Samsung Releases A Phone For Third world Countries: Samsung Galaxy J2 Core

Samsung has just released its first Smartphone specifically for Android Go, Samsung Galaxy J2 core, to carter for people in third world countries who cannot afford its high-end phones.

Android Go is Google’s stripped-down mobile OS that can fit into low-end and affordable phones providing the users with near-full phone functionalities.

An Android Go phone is a type of phone with 1GB RAM or less, that is well suited for specific scaled down versions of Android apps such as the Gmail Go, Files GO, YouTube Go, Chrome Go, Gboard, Google Play, Google Map Go and Google Assistant.

Google Assistant, one may think should be for high-end phones only, but Google says it’s making effort to ensure that Android Go phone users are not left out of the exquisite experiences such as using Google Assistance to set alarm, find nearby restaurants, control your media and more.

However, full Android functionality should not be expected as there’s bound to be hitches and bottlenecks around the phone’s operations.

The J2 has 5-inch, 540 X 960-pixel resolution display, 8-Megapixel rear camera/ 2-megapixel front camera. Also, Internet connectivity is via Wi-Fi, probably because internet connectivity through mobile network operators is not certain. With the various scaled-down versions of Google Apps and other third-party apps, the J2 is designed to give you the same experience an expensive smartphone gives at one-tenth or less the price of its flagship phone.

However, when high-performance apps that are not scaled-down are run, one may experience a reduction in performance of the phone which may manifest in the frequent freezing of apps, shutdowns of the OS, and other bizarre behavior.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 core comes pre-loaded with apps tweaked for the platform. It will be initially available in Malaysia and India starting today, August 24^th and then spreads to more markets in the future.
