Nvidia has uncovered its latest AI chip, the B200 “Black well” chip which it claims can do some tasks faster than its predecessor, and much more, the chip is compatible with its competitors devices.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made this announcement at its annual developer conference held in San Jose, California. The presentation wowed many attendees including Bob O’Donnell from Technalysis Research who was also at the event.
During an interview with BBC, he said “I haven’t seen something like this in the tech industry in quite some time.” He also likened the presentation to the early days of Steve Jobs types of presentations.
Competitors cum Customers, and Businesses
Speaking of its competitors, Nvidia says major customers including Amazon, Google, Microsoft and OpenAI are expected to integrate the firm’s new flagship chip in cloud-computing services and for their own AI offerings.
The AI chips were announced alongside new line of chips for cars which can run chatbots inside the vehicle. Also, businesses can use the new series of chips for creating humanoid robots.
Recall how Nvidia was one of the investors alongside arsenal of investors like Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Microsoft, Openai of the new startup company, Figure AI who specializes in creating humanoid robots.
Chinese electric vehicle makers BYD and Xpeng would both use its new chips, according to Nvidia.
The Nvidia company, founded in 1993 was originally known for making the type of computer chips that process graphics, particularly for computer games. From there, it expanded its chips by adding new features to help machine learning.
This additional investment helped it gain market share. The firm has an 80% market share and hopes to cement its dominance. Nvidia is the third-most valuable company in the US, behind only Microsoft and Apple.
It is now seen as a key company to mirror to see how fast AI-powered tech is spreading across the business world.
