Unlike other big entrepreneurs, Jack Ma believes Facebook will overcome its present challenges. Jack Ma, who is currently China’s richest man, founder and chairman of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd( the parent company of e-commerce giant Alibaba), said this at the Boao forum in Hainan island.
“We should not kill the company because of these problems,” Ma said. “I will say, Facebook 15 years ago, they never expected this to grow like that. All the problems they could not realize came up.”
Facebook has been facing serious criticisms on how it handled the Cambridge Analytica data breach in a very careless way. This has led to so many prominent people closing their accounts on the platform, including Elon Musk. Facebook later apologized and now says 87 million accounts were compromised by the data breach. Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is expected to appear before Congress today.
Jack Ma also said that Zuckerberg should “Fix” Facebook. “It is the time to fix it. It is the time for the CEO to really take it seriously. I think the problems will be solved”.
