The Nigeria’s civic-tech organization BudgIT is looking to tackle corruption in the grassroots –local government areas of the country with the “LET’S TACKLE LG CORRUPTION” movement.
LET'S TACKLE LG CORRUPTION
March to July 2019 alone, 774 Local Govts got N672bn directly from FG as monthly allocations.
Anything to show for it?🤷♂️
Today, we launch an SMS simple solution to follow LG monthly allocations –– #LGalert

As part of its objectives of “Raising the standards of transparency, citizen engagement and accountability, most especially in public finance”, it has launched an SMS solutions #LGalert to keep citizens abreast with LG monthly allocations received directly from the Federal government, to ensure true accountability.
Citizens are expected to keep track of these moneys in their local governments, and demand accountability from the closest government to them who sits on billions of federal/other allocations with little impact to show for it.
BudgIT says SMS will only be made available to MTN users for the time being.
NOTE: You can only use MTN network for now.
Thank you.
